Hose safety cables

Contracor® safety cables with loops are compatible with all abrasive blasting hoses. They prevent accidental hose disconnection.

The looped safety cables relieve stress on the coupling and reduce the risk of connection failure. They also prevent uncontrolled hose movement in the event of a coupling failure.

Hose couplings can become disconnected for various reasons

• Coupling screws may lose their gripping ability due to internal wear on the hose lining.
• Using incorrect coupling screws can interfere with the proper fit between the coupling and the hose.
• The outer diameter of the hose may be too small relative to the coupling.
• Constant tension caused by pulling the hose during work can weaken the coupling’s grip on the hose.
• Couplings can also be damaged by vehicles or other equipment.

Looped safety cables are highly recommended for use during vertical operations when air and cleaning hoses are hanging. Couplings are not designed to support the weight of the hose. Additional reinforcements are required to reduce tension. Safety cables made of corrosion-resistant, durable steel can be installed on hose-to-hose and hose-to-steel coupling connections.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the safety cables to the abrasive blasting hose on both sides of the coupling connections. Before connecting the hose, pull back the loop fitted with the spring and slide it only onto the hose (do not place it on control cables). Then connect the couplings and spread the ends of the safety cable until the cable is taut and the hose is slightly bent.
